  'Paradise Earth' makes absolutely no sense!

  the jw idea of 'paradise earth' seems to be full of holes.

  will babies of baptized jws also be in the new system?

  if not, how could the child's parents consider it 'paradise' without their children?

  There is nothing in the Bible that really says we will live in a paradise earth forever. Jesus only spoke about living forever in heaven. The witnesses have created a false hope of a material paradise with fleshly immortality rather than a spiritual one.

  I think this so appeals to people, myself included at one time, because we are afraid of death and the unknown. Telling us we will never have to die soothes that fear, but it does not make it real.

  I think the society is very aware that this teaching is false, but doesn't want to bust the bubble so many have caught up in.

  after the initial shock from reading simon's announcement wore off, i re-read it again for the first time.. here is something that really stood out:.

  the ex-jw community has certainly changed over the years.. people have and always will have disagreements but in the past there was a certain level of mutual respect, even if you vehemently disagreed with someone, and a line that people would not cross.

  now it seems that the slightest disagreement is taken to extremes and escalated beyond all proportion with a level of vitriol seen in very few online communities.

  You're so correct, white dove. I do think it is always a small minority of people who cross the line. I think whoever moniters this site for Brooklyn is rubbbing their hands together at the thought of this site shutting down.

  Surely something else will take its place because the need is out there.

  a judiciary spokesman said four people sentenced to die by stoning had had their sentences commuted and that all other cases had been put under review.

  lawyers and human rights campaigners have said at least eight women and a man are awaiting the punishment.

  Hard to believe sometimes that people still stone others. To be buried up to your waist/chest first is even more brutal.

  I quit turning in time while I still actually had some. The secretary asked me for my time and I said I didn't have any. He knew I did as he had gone on a bible study with me.

  Turning in time always bothered me. If you can stop, yes that's a good idea. Everyone does the dance a little differently.

  They really made a killing on the free labor, I'm sure. They own some pretty nice real estate, yet claim poverty. When I toured the assembly hall where they have their Gilead graduations, I was surprised at their shameless luxury.

  Watchtower CLUB Society.....

  this is actually wt's real name.

  wt has become actually a social club and nothing more.

  jws are in a "religious" club with activities that includes picnics, staying in hotels(assembley) going out for leasure, excursions in the "holy land- brooklyn".

  recently i havnt been minding the meetings so much cause i have a new phone and a bluetooth headset.

  it gives me the ability to listen to music and no ones the wiser.

  I didn't know they had moved on from the revelation anti-climax book. I absolutely hated that one. The Bible teach book was for morons, you're right. don't know the new one about minor prophets.

  I can't believe you listen to music during the study. I had to find other ways to amuse myself when I suffered through meetings.

  actually they suggest that they themselves are the issue.

  No, I am not trying to get into a contest about who suffers more, Dawg. I was just trying to point out that you can tell a person something, but you can't make them believe it. As it is, if I try to talk with family still in, they stop the conversation. I think they don't want to shun me any more than I want them to. I have a dfd child and I never shunned him even when I was still a jw.

  I hope you're right and seeds planted will grow. I am sorry about your family situation. I think shunning is evil.

  How many kids never buy into the JW B/S???

  at the conventions, there always seem to be parents gushing about how their kids are 'in the truth', pioneering, etc.

  i'm wondering how many jw kids just flat-out reject all the jw b/s right from the start.

  surely there are some kids who just say 'no way!

  A lot leave or are dfd. Unfortunately, some of these retuirn. Then there are those that stay and somehow manage to do ignore much of what the society preaches. I see many who have stayed in around here going to college and establishing a good life for themselves. I also see them making their own decisions on morality and socializing.

  There just doesn't seem to be many who are really sacrificing too much for this religion. It is more of a social thing than a religious one.
